You might remember the Friesens as they were the presenters for our Marriage Retreat in 2010. They will encourage you, challenge you, and give you practical ideas to build a strong marriage and family, readily sharing from their experience of raising three children and walking through 35 years of marriage together. You will find them refreshingly honest and real.

Guest Speakers

For those of you who had the pleasure of meeting the Friesens and hearing them teach last year, prepare to be encouraged again by their 30 years of experience in Family Ministry, their gifts in teaching and encouragement,and the way they can speak seriously to the importance of marriage and family, but also make us laugh.

After serving on staff at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, Paul and Virginia founded Home Improvement Ministries (HIM www.himweb.org). They keep a busy speaking schedule traveling throughout the US and internationally, speaking at marriage, men's and women's conferences, as well as parenting and family seminars. They minister to several professional athletic teams including the Lane's favorite-The Patriots!

They have been involved in family camps for many years, leading Campus-By-the Sea's Family Camp on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California and Camp Berea's Family Camp on Newfoundland Lake in New Hampshire. Their summers at these camps are dedicated to bringing glory to God by encouraging and strengthening families in their relationships with each other and in the Lord.

Paul and Virginia each have their doctorates in Marriage and Family Therapy from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, the same seminary from which Steve & Liz Lane and Jason Bryant graduated! In fact almost 20 years ago when Paul and Virginia were there for an earlier degree, Liz met them and they became a very special part of her life and later Steve's, too! I (Liz) can't say enough about how genuine, gifted and godly Paul and Virginia are. They, along with their daughters, sons-in-law and a new grandbaby, are a beautiful family and testimony to the Lord.

Paul and Virginia, along with four others, are co-authors of the book Restoring the Fallen. Other books include Letters to My Daughters (Paul), So You Want to Marry My Daughter? (Paul), In Our Image: Marriage as a Reflection of the Godhead (Paul and Virginia), and most recently, Raising a Trailblazer: Rite-of-Passage Trail Markers for Your Set-Apart Teens (Virginia). The books published by HIM are available in the church library, as well as several of their DVD teaching series on marriage and parenting.
